Irrealismo e Antirrealismo: a tese da acumulação na filosofia da história contemporânea

Abstract

The article analyzes two philosophical stances regarding history, anti-realism and irrealism, concerning the problem of reference and the accumulation thesis. It presents a definition of the accumulation thesis, followed by a discussion in which objections from anti-realist and irrealist philosophers to this thesis are exposed. In our reading, these objections are fundamentally linked to the stances of the two philosophies regarding the referentiality of historiographical terms, although the anti-realistic philosophy of history still clings to a softened version of both the accumulation thesis and the referential possibility of history. Finally, it demonstrates that the irrealist stance in the philosophy of history constitutes a radicalization of the objections raised to the possibility of objectivity in history by anti-realist philosophy. The central argument of the article is that the issues of referentiality and accumulation are fundamentally related within the scope of the philosophy of history, given that changes in one imply changes in the other.

Coordenador de Pesquisa e Extensão da Faculdade EnsinE. Líder do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Teoria da História e Educação (GEPETHE-UCP) e do Laboratório de Estudos em Educação Brasileira (Faculdade EnsinE).
