In this article, we examine time as a complex notion, proposing the category of a “temporal matrix of interpretations” as a theoretical framework to analyze how different dimensions of time influence the construction of historical narratives and the formation of collective identities. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we explore the interconnections between the past, present, and future, and how these temporalities can be politically manipulated to legitimize discourses and project possible futures. We also analyze the importance of the iteration of time within this matrix, emphasizing that the past is not simply a static dimension but is actively reinterpreted to fulfill specific functions in contemporary historical and political contexts. With this research, we aim to contribute to an expanded understanding of time in its role within historical dynamics and its impact on the writing of history and social action.
