A “corrupção” na escrita da História Medieval: os desafios de um efeito de sustentação discursiva

Resumo

Este artigo traça linhas gerais para o lugar ocupado pela ideia de “corrupção” na escrita da história da Idade Média Latina nos últimos setenta anos. O objetivo consiste em explicar uma assimetria epistêmica: como é possível que “corrupção” raramente seja estudada como tema do passado medieval latino e, ao mesmo tempo, incida amplamente sobre a produção de significados a respeito desse passado? A busca por uma resposta foi conduzida como um estudo de Análise do Discurso da eventual Função Paradigmática das teorias sobre corrupção em âmbito historiográfico. Aplicando premissas conceituais e procedimentos metodológicos estipulados por Michel Pêcheux e Thomas Kuhn sobre obras de notório impacto historiográfico, este artigo articula a hipótese de que a ideia de “corrupção” tenha figurado como fonte de um contínuo, mas variável, Efeito de Sustentação Discursiva, que funda e delimita a elaboração de sentido na escrita da história medieval latina.
